August 9th National Book Lovers Day

How would you spend National Book Lovers Day on August 9th?

Perhaps you should go to the beach on a beautiful August summer day when the humidity is the perfect degree (non-existent!) at a beach that is sparsely populated with people. Listen to the waves approach and the seagulls low-piecing cow-cow-cow until you pick up your book, and the whole world goes silent as you are teleported to your summer read pick.

National Book Lovers Day is just as the name says--a day for Book Lovers to bask in the black ink on pages (or digital pages or audio words). There is no one way to celebrate National Book Lovers Day. If you want to keep with the theme of book loving and reading we have a few suggestions.

  • Host a book club with new and old friends

  • Patronize your local library

  • Reread your old favorites

  • Listen in to an audiobook you've been waiting to dive into

However, this could be a day you just need a day to admire books (who needs to frolic in the flowers when you could meander among shelves of books). Maybe take that trip to a local bookstore (I highly recommend NoWhere Bookshop if you haven't swung in), reorganize your bookshelves (will you order it by colors or heights or by author?), donate books you don't plan to read to Little Free Libraries near you, or maybe start that dream of a Bookstagram, Booktok, or Booktube channel!

Just know that regardless of what you do, make sure you have fun! We will be here with new books for you to peruse.
